As PN went to press, we were expecting a vote on Trident renewal in the British parliament, following the vote to leave the EU (23 June), the resignation of the British prime minister David Cameron (24 June), a vote of no confidence in Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn – 172 MPs voted against, only 40 in favour of him (28 June), the publication of the damning Chilcot report on the Iraq war (6 July), and the installation of Theresa May as prime minister and Conservative leader (12 July).
