Luvvies
Just finished reading December issue of PN and it’s spiffing as usual. I particularly like:
- The front page pic
- The linked white poppy stories
- Everything by Gabriel
- “Sam says”
- Maya’s diary about her friend Ali
- Three pages of reviews
- The letters exchange between George Paxton and Milan Rai – Milan’s last paragraph in particular is important to all involved in the Peace Movement
I have mixed feelings about the Mark Thomas interview. Maya (whom I met at the Summer Camp and liked – and admire) has gone a bit OTT here I fancy – not PN’s modus operandi really. Her intro is so adoring it would almost grace the Eye’s Luvvies column. I agree that Mark Thomas is A Good Thing but any PN contributor or letter-writer at random would have given very similar answers to Maya’s questions and I hoped for something more unexpected and challenging. However, like Caroline Lucas his value to us is that what he and she say and do is NEWS and so gets reported widely while what PN says is ignored.
