Aims and objectives:
Enough! is a major coalition effort to work for peace and freedom for Palestinians and Israelis alike. It begins this year, on the 40th anniversary of the Six-Day War and the Israeli occupation of the rest of Palestine. Enough! is bringing together range of UK-based groups that value nonviolent campaigning.
Established: The Enough! coalition was launched on 30 January during a rally in central London. The coalition is 41 groups strong and growing: various charities, trade unions, faith, and other campaign groups have been among the first to sign up, including the GMB union, the National Union of Journalists, Pax Christi, and War on Want.
Successes so far: In an astonishing show of support, more than 500 people packed into London's Friends Meeting House to attend the Enough! launch rally. British, Palestinian and Israeli speakers promoted the peace-making objectives of the coalition. The rally covered the current political and social situation in Jerusalem and also gave the coalition a chance to announce their plans for 2007.
Next steps: The coalition is planning a month of local activities in April to highlight the situation in Jerusalem. They will announce when and where these events will take place on their website (see below). Enough! is also organising a national demonstration and concert on 9 June 2007, under the slogan, “The world says no to Israeli occupation”. The coalition is also running a petition, which can be signed via the Enough! website.
