Peace News 2012 appeal

Dear friends,

Since our last financial appeal, 18 months ago, PN has been engaged in a wide range of exciting projects to mark our 75th Anniversary, including the ground-breaking PN-initiated Rebellious Media Conference with Noam Chomsky (attended by over 1,000 people), Guy Smallman’s touring exhibition of Afghanistan photographs, and re-designs of both our print version and our website.
Furthermore, the next few months will see PN hosting a UK-wide tour with renowned US activist and nonviolent revolutionary George Lakey, re-publishing two classic works on nonviolence (Howard Clark’s Making Nonviolent Revolution and George Lakey’s Toward a Living Revolution), and holding our fourth annual Summer Camp.
Additionally, we are now working on a major online activist project, a nationwide Peace News speaking tour, and the creation of a searchable online archive of every issue of PN dating back to 1936.

We believe that these special projects – none of which have been a financial drain on the paper – are an essential part of making PN relevant to a new generation of activists. Nonetheless, even with staff and volunteers putting in many unpaid hours, PN’s core project – the paper itself – is still struggling to break even.
Our budget for this financial year depends upon our raising £10,000 in donations.
We are offering the following sliding-scale of incentives - see below!
And finally, anyone who gives £500 or more will not only receive all of the goodies but, in addition, PN’s editors will take you and a friend to a dinner in your home town and treat you to your own personal mini-exhibition and talk.
Please give what you can!
Yours in peace and solidarity,
The Peace News team
