Peace News 2014-15 appeal

Dear friends,

The World Is My Country poster2014 has been an exciting and challenging year for Peace News.

Some of our projects include:

The World Is My Country - a series of ten posters, and the stories behind them, celebrating key figures and events from the First World War anti-war movement. Some of the posters have already been reproduced in the paper, and will be on sale early next year. There's an accompanying speaking tour by Gabriel and Emily.

Zylum - in last year's appeal letter we told you about our 'digital toolbox' – well it's nearly ready! Zylum is a donation-based bundle of services that is super-easy-to-use, activist-friendly, and committed to people’s privacy.

ZylumSocial Audit - during 2014, the Social Audit enabled you the reader to tell us what you thought about the paper and our projects. We had a very good – and nearly all positive – response so thank you to all who participated.

The 2015 Projects are equally exciting:

We are launching Zylum on 10 January with the 'Weaving Our Own Web' free event in London. See here for details and to register. Don't worry if you can't go – Zylum is designed to be user-friendly so little 'techy' knowledge is required.

Housmans Peace DiaryWe are exploring possibilities for collaboration with other organisations in producing nonviolence training and direct support to grassroots action groups.

The popular Peace News Summer Camp will take place at the end of July and we will shortly be planning the theme, settling on a venue and recruiting volunteers.

All this as well as our regular reporting of peace action around the world, reviews, opinions and reflections on the lived experience of being an activist in our bumper-sized bi-monthly Peace News. There is an ever-increasing need for radical nonviolence in the world today – help us to help you achieve this!

We are offering the following incentives (do say if you don't want them):

  • Give £25 or more and we will send you a free copy of Housmans Peace Diary
  • Give £30 or more and we will also send a gift subscription of Peace News to a friend or relation – please send name and address with any message to the recipient (an ideal Christmas present!)
  • Spectacle, Reality, ResistanceGive £40 or more and we will send you a copy of David Gee's book Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a culture of militarism which was previewed in the last issue.
  • Give £100 or more and we will interview (where feasible) the person or organisation of your choice - either in the paper or for our website.
  • Give 500 or more and you will not only receive all of the above goodies but, in addition, PN's editors will take you and friend to dinner in your home town and treat you to your own personal mini-exhibition and talk.

Please help us and give what you can!

Yours in peace and solidarity,

The Peace News team
